WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 3
THE BOROUGH:
BLUEGRASS
FROM AUSTRALIA
Get ready for a night of sharp musicianship, strong harmonies and real drive!
The Borough are one of Australia’s leading bluegrass bands, a five-piece featuring banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and upright bass.
Each member of The Borough is an accomplished musician in their own right, and together they’ve earned numerous Australian bluegrass championship titles and an Australasian Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association Young Performer of the Year Award.
The result is a band that moves comfortably from fast, intricate picking to warm ballads with rich vocal harmonies.
Regulars at Australian bluegrass festivals, The Borough have built a reputation for performances that are lively and musically precise in equal measure. They’ve performed across Australia, including at Mountaingrass, Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival, the National Folk Festival and Cygnet Folk Festival.
The Borough’s sound sits between traditional bluegrass – inspired by the likes of Bill Monroe, Tony Rice, and Flatt and Scruggs – and a more contemporary approach inspired by artists such as Andrew Marlin, Noam Pikelny and Darol Anger… honouring the music’s roots, yet pushing it somewhere new.
With an energy that carries through from the first note to the last, The Borough are proof that Australia has plenty to offer on the bluegrass stage.
Fast, warm and genuinely fun live, The Borough are a reminder of what a good acoustic band can do!
The Inadequates will be appearing as part of a double-bill with Aussie comrades-in-arms The Inadequates.
